As I write this post and as you read it, a new life is born, a mother is embracing her child, a father is weaving dreams of having a doctor, lawyer or an architect in the house, an elder brother is feeling overprotective of his new born baby sister, a grandparent is certain of having lived a content life now that he has seen his grandchild. And us… we could not have been more proud of ourselves for having successfully delivered 63 women (see picture for detailed figures) in the past one year. Yes, we have completed 1st year of our Campaign “KOKH”.
This campaign is specially planned for women who cannot afford delivery expenses. Under this initiative we provide these women with access to skilled prenatal and post natal care, required medical services, nutritious food, healthy living and also spread awareness on their reproductive rights.
The journey has not been easy. There were times when some of the women were in dire need of blood to come out of the delivery alive. However, we made it this far through the love and support of our blood donors and our volunteers.
“Sometimes when you pick up your child you can feel the map of your own bones beneath your hands, or smell the scent of your skin in the nape of his neck. This is the most extraordinary thing about motherhood – finding a piece of yourself separate and apart that all the same you could not live without.” That is what makes motherhood so special. Let us help every woman embrace this feeling…
